In his Curiosity Bites podcast, Dov and I discuss the topic of CONVICTION. I would hazard to say that every single one of us feels convicted about something. Be it at our kids’ school, in the workplace, in our state/country or maybe in regards to the sustainability of our planet. There’s something that we each deeply care about… that we think can be made better.
As Dov mentions, we can all raise a ✊ and declare, “We should all come together over this issue!” … erm, as long as I don’t have to do anything about it 🤭 In fact, we can have, proclaim and share myriad beliefs… but conviction serves as the demarcation between thinking and doing. Are you trading values for convenience?

This is what intentionality is all about.
Dictionary.com offers a good definition: “an act or instance of determining mentally upon some action or result.” Intention is determining to do something, even when it requires some degree of personal cost.
So, what is your conviction? In my book, I refer to this as the Offense – “that thing that tugs uncomfortably at our gut and pesters our conscience until we take action.”
Can you name yours? And, what have you done about it?
Then, the intersection of your Offense and your Offer, that unique combination of skills, resources, and personality traits that you offer, becomes your social legacy.

You can find my own Social Legacy populated here. One of the foundational elements of my and our family’s offer is our Spare Room. Coupled with our love of hosting people, and the unity of our family, we love welcoming people into our home! And, we’ve found that we have the opportunity to create a safe place, particularly for vulnerable young people with nowhere else to go.
Is it always convenient? Definitely not. In fact, we’re now caring for Wayne and have had to restructure our individual and family calendars, in order to do so. But what a joy it is to watch this little guy giggle and wriggle and learn! Just today, Wayne signed “more” by himself, for the first time as I was feeding him!
Taking action on conviction has always led to unspeakable joy and fulfillment for our family – I deeply hope the same for you!
