Great insights! I love how you highlight the importance of aligning on a shared vision before jumping into planning. Your analogy about finding a home really drives that point home.

I also appreciate your focus on emotional awareness—listening to team members and recognizing their needs is key. Reflecting on our impact during project wraps is essential for fostering growth. Thanks for sharing these valuable thoughts!

[…] Instead, consider these three areas of focus: 1) What you’d like to learn, 2) How you’d like to grow, and 3) How you plan to live differently. What a thoughtful post, Minter! There’s certainly no one right answer as context, relationship, and experience all inform how we respond in a given moment. As for me? I’d like to think I could endure the sugar cookie treatment and help strawberries thrive. In honesty, I’m probably more built to the former but I’m also working on the latter.

I enjoyed this post, Emily. You bring up a major and most sensitive topic. In the 'old' days, we used to talk about having a stiff upper lip and considering it an honorable attitude. Today, it's generally considered as unhealthy (i.e. too "hard"). Certainly the extent to which we were obliged to have a stiff upper lip was sometimes exaggerated, but in swinging the other way (toward the strawberry), it's hard to imagine how resilience is built without the experience of true hardships. Today, we seem to prefer the precautionary route, making things safe... While noble in principle, I have to believe that, should (i.e. when) the sh*t truly hits the fan, we will be less well equipped to deal with major hardship. To the point of "lack of war and political persecution" it seems that in their absence, we would rather create new problems and hardships that, in our minds, already seem huge. But wherein lies due perspective?
