My fourth TEDx talk was a salon format, which enabled some inspiring discussion after the talk! One great question is worth repeating: “How can I get more out of my classes?” My answer? Be BRAVE in your learning!

Classes (and professors) can be intimidating

We don’t want to look stupid, or get caught out not knowing the answer. Perhaps we didn’t understand the content and hope it’ll become clear as the class goes on. Spoiler alert: this is highly unlikely to happen! If you have a question or don’t understand the material, it’s best to ask sooner, rather than later.

Be brave and ask questions

You see, being in the wonderful state of “learning mode,” you’re allowed to not know the answers! In fact, it’s kind of the point. So, take this opportunity and ask ALL the questions!

This is an invaluable moment

Perhaps you’re a student. Or you may be new to a job. Either way, while you’re living in this precious window of time, learn all that you can! Get as much help, and absorb as much perspective as you can. Be BRAVE in your learning!

And remember: Bravery is not the absence of fear. Bravery is feeling fearful, recognizing it, and continuing on in spite of it! So take advantage of every single opportunity, and ask all the questions!
